Morgan Hunter Education Division’s mission is to provide a cost-effective, high quality solution to substitute teaching. With our comprehensive services we can relieve schools of the burden of finding and managing substitute teachers so they can focus on their core objectives.

  • Approximately $2 billion dollars is spent nationally each year on substitute teachers.
  • By the time a student completes Grade 12, he/she will have spent the equivalent of one full year in classrooms with a substitute teacher.
MHED Staffing Solution
  • Recruiting – We recruit through various methods; Websites, newspaper ads, referrals, fliers, campus recruiting, etc.
  • Application Process – We adhere to the same standards as the Kansas Department of Education but go one step further and interview all applicants as well as conduct additional background screening and two previous employment checks.
  • Orientation & Training – All new employees will go through orientation which includes information about MHED processes and procedures, expectations and payroll processes.
  • Scheduling – We have a designated phone line exclusively for substitute teachers. The phone is answered during the hours of 6:00am - 5:00pm M-F. Outside of those hours, the call is forwarded into a 24 hour voice mailbox. Substitute teachers can also e-mail their requests to MHED@morganhunter.com. E-mail and voicemail are checked at 6 a.m. to ensure all last minute scheduling needs are met.
  • Payroll – We payroll on a weekly basis utilizing an electronic timecard procedure. Direct deposit is also available for your convenience.
  • Management & Quality Control – Evaluations: first time substitute teachers and random sampling of “experienced” subs. We always welcome feedback on any and all substitute teachers assignments whether it is positive or negative. We will analyze the feedback and report to human resources or the district office. Review of partnership: Semester and/or Annual.
  • Retention – Benefits: health insurance, MHED skills lab, summer assignments, referral rewards program, Substitute Teacher of the Month (district specific).
